Understanding AAC

A short, honest primer.

Core and fringe vocabulary

A small set of high-frequency core words (want, go, more, stop, help) makes up most of what we say. MyTalker keeps core in fixed positions for motor planning and layers specific fringe words by place and activity.

Model, do not test

Communication grows when partners say a word while pointing to its symbol, then pause and wait. MyTalker is built for aided language modeling, with symbol-supported sentences shown at every level for emerging literacy.

Presume competence

Everyone has something to say. The job of an AAC app is to make the right words reachable fast, not to decide what a person is allowed to mean.

Five languages

MyTalker speaks and shows English, Spanish, Italian, German, and French, with native-language AI text and per-language pictograms, so the whole experience is localized, not just the menus.

Common questions

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every account starts with a 7-day free trial. After that it is one simple subscription, billed monthly or yearly. The anonymous web demo stays free to explore.

What data is stored?

Only a coarse place label, the words you chose to speak, your saved people and photos, and aggregate routine stats, and only with your consent. Camera, microphone, biometrics, and precise location never leave your device.

Does it work for non-readers?

Yes. Support levels scale from picture-only to full sentences. At non-reader levels the board leads with symbols, with words kept as a small caption for emerging literacy.

Which devices?

MyTalker runs in any modern browser and ships as an iOS app. Your settings and words sync across devices when you sign in.
